Tuesday 6:30 pm-9:30 pm February 2 - March 23, 2010 8 weeks $240.00 Class Requirements: Laptop Computer and Photoshop 7 or CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 (No LE) Photoshop is an incredible graphic and fine artist's tool for visualizing, designing, composing, as well as creating digital artwork. Many artists do not realize the unlimited resources this program makes possible for creativity. This hands-on course on the artistic applications of image editing and manipulation, digital painting also features learning color correcting and clean-up of digital images of artist's paintings for presentation and internet use. Class discussion and exercises will teach you: · Drawing, painting and editing in a number of different ways. · Imagineering - Visualizing, designing and composing for traditional media. · Collage and Montage creation. · Understanding the pixel-based nature of Photoshop images and how they are different from vector images, such as those created by Adobe Illustrator. · Going back and forth between vector and pixel based formats as a creative technique. · Creative and artistic use of typography · What each of Photoshop's tools is designed to do, and how to decide which tool is most appropriate for a particular task including: 1. Using each of the selection tools, and decide which is most appropriate for a particular task 2. How to use, save and load selections 3. How to select colors and use them to paint as well as fill selections 4. What the different painting modes mean 5. How to create and use layers 6. The difference between layers and channels 7. How to select brushes and use the painting tools 8. How to create and apply gradients 9. What the Rubber Stamp tool does and how to use it 10. How the filters work and how to apply them to an image 11. Utilizing clipping paths, and how to create one 12. Different methods to making color adjustments to an image The differences among the formats in which you can save your work, and how to decide which to use in a particular project.

Wednesday 6:30-9:30 pm February 3 - March 24, 2010 8 weeks 235.00 (includes model fee) Ability level: all levels Learn to accurately render the human form. You will develop your technical skills for drawing and painting in oils by studying light, values, color and by gaining an understanding of edges and planes. Alla Prima painting skills will be taught to encourage technical accuracy. Students may choose to work in pastel, oil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, or other drawing and painting media.
Thursday 6:30-9:30 pm February 4 - March 25, 2010 8 weeks 185.00 Ability level: all levels Pastel offers a unique bridge between drawing and painting. This class, suited for both beginner and advanced artists, covers techniques in both oil and chalk pastel, giving the student a solid introduction to pastel painting. An emphasis on accurate perception, the importance of understanding the qualities of light and utilization of color harmony will be covered which translates to any medium. This class will allow you to explore subjects while building skill and confidence in your handling of medium. This is slated to be pastel class but other media are welcome, (Oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor)
Hi, time for another meet-up.Saturday March 20th at 11 AM you're invited to come train for free at my Mixed Martial Arts school(think UFC or CageFighting)...."South Shore SportFighting and Fitness" at 319 Centre Ave in Rockland, MA.It's on route 123 in the Centre Crossing Plaza right by the Abington border. The meet-up will be various fitness drills and exersizes plus you'll learn how to punch and kick and maybe some jiu-jitsu. But don't worry you won't get punched in the face! It's just about fitness and fun. All levels are welcome.I'll have advanced students of mine present to help out if there's a wide variety of fitness levels so we can just split you guys up into groups and train you at a pace that'll get you sweating, but at a rate you can handle.
